Dingle Valley Walk MapOffa’s Dyke Circular Walk
Rich in history and natural beauty, this moderate circular walk takes you through the beautiful countryside towards Montgomery, incorporating a section of the famous Offa’s Dyke Path.
Distance: 13.3km / 8.3 miles
Estimated time: 3.5 hours
The route starts and finishes near Montgomery and follows tracks and footpaths, including a section of the Offa’s Dyke path. Offa’s Dyke is a substantial linear earthwork running roughly along the modern border between England and Wales. It was commissioned in the 8th Century by King Offa and today, the full 177-mile long-distance trail is known as Britain’s longest monument.

Mitchell’s Fold Walks
Explore the ancient history of the area with these picturesque walks that encompass the Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle and the summit of Corndon Hill. Both routes offer a moderate challenge and incredible views.
Distance: 8.2km / 5.1 miles
Estimated time: 2.5 hours
The full walk includes both Corndon Hill and Stapeley Hill. Climb to the summit of Corndon Hill to see ancient cairns and mining spoil heaps. Pass the trig point and wooded seat to reach the summit. We recommend stopping here to take in the amazing views.
Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle is located on Stapeley Hill, a dramatic location that makes it a perfect place for a bracing moorland walk. Nestled en route to the summit, the captivating Mitchell’s Fold Stone is a Bronze Age monument steeped in ancient history and local folklore. A common myth suggests it’s not possible to correctly count the stones unless it’s done on New Year’s Eve.

Horse riding on the estate
Guests are welcome to bring their own horses to Marrington Escapes. Enjoy incredible riding through Marrington Dingle, green lanes, and open hillsides with views to Snowdonia. We offer self-livery and full livery at local rates, including paddock turnout and ménage access. Looking for riding lessons or horse hire? While we don’t keep horses on-site for guest riding, we warmly recommend PenyCoed Riding Centre nearby. Please note that horses hired from PenyCoed are strictly for use at their centre and do not have access to the Marrington Estate.
